Kamil Anduła (Toruń) Witalis Martanus - a commander of 1st School Infantry Division (A short biography of polish and soviet general)     Witalis Martanus was born on April 27, 1896 in Żabłówek, in The Ashmyany County, in The Vilnius Governorate, in a Polish family. In 1913 he graduated in the city school in Dwińsk. From 1915, he served in The Imperial Russian Army in a Praporshchik rank. He fought at the First World War on the eastern front. During the fights he was wounded four times and concussed four times. In 1916 he graduated in an officer's school [1] . In 1918 he joined the Red Army in mobilization point in city Luga. He served in several soviet units at West-, East- and Turkestan front. In Polish-Soviet war in 1920 he a commander of 528 th Rifle Regiment. He was wounded in one of the battles against Polish army.
